S. Samuel Kim MD, FACOG

In 2011, he reported Kansas’s first pregnancy and live birth from frozen oocytes. His work has drawn attention from major news outlets, including the BBC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. He is a founding member of the International Society for Fertility Preservation (ISFP), where he also served as the society’s second president. He helped establish the Asian Society for Fertility Preservation and continues to advise institutions and organizations worldwide.

Dr. Kim completed medical school at Seoul National University. He trained in obstetrics and gynecology at Temple University in Philadelphia and completed his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the University of Washington in Seattle. He later conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.

He held academic leadership positions, including Professor and Head of Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, and Director of Fertility Preservation at the KU Cancer Center. He also served on the faculty at Harbor-UCLA and led the Fertility Center at American-Sino Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Shanghai.

Dr. Kim has published widely, including articles in Nature, and has authored several textbook chapters. He served on the editorial boards of Fertility and Sterility. He contributed to medical literature as both an author and editor, including the multi-author textbook Principles and Practice of Fertility Preservation. With over 90 international lecture invitations, he continues to share insights on reproductive medicine across the globe.

Patients appreciated his depth of knowledge and the steady, thoughtful care he provided. He was recognized among ‘Super Doctors in REI’ and supported individuals and couples facing complex fertility challenges with clarity and commitment.
